Sissi Hsiao, VP and General Manager of Google Assistant and Bard, expressed optimism in a recent announcement, highlighting Gemini as Google’s “most capable AI model with sophisticated multimodal reasoning capabilities.”

Gemini Helps Users To Elevate Bard’s Capabilities

The deployment of Gemini unfolds in two distinctive phases, marking a significant leap forward for Bard users. The initial release integrates Gemini Pro with the existing Bard interface, unlocking advanced reasoning, planning, and understanding capabilities. 

This enhancement is poised to elevate the user experience by tapping into Gemini’s vast potential. The subsequent phase, slated for early 2024, introduces Gemini Ultra to Bard Advanced, focusing on handling large, intricate tasks suitable for enterprise-level AI applications.

Nano: Bringing Gemini To On-Device Tasks And Pixel 8 Pro Integration

A notable aspect of Gemini is its Nano variant, specifically designed for on-device tasks. The Pixel 8 Pro will lead the charge as the first device to incorporate Gemini Nano.

Brian Rakowski, Google’s VP of Product Management, highlighted that this integration leverages the power of Google Tensor G3, introducing features like “Summarize in Recorder” and “Smart Reply in Gboard.” 

The rollout for Pixel 8 Pro users commenced today, with Google planning to unlock additional capabilities for the Assistant with Bard experience in early 2024.

Here’s The Performance Benchmarks And Validation

Google’s commitment to Gemini’s efficacy is substantiated by rigorous testing against industry-standard benchmarks. 

Sissi Hsiao revealed that Gemini Pro outperformed GPT-3.5 in six out of eight benchmarks, showcasing its prowess in Massive Multitask Language Understanding (MMLU) and GSM8K, a grade school math reasoning metric. 

Google collaborated with science educator and YouTuber Mark Rober to conduct practical tests, such as building a paper airplane using Gemini. The results demonstrated not only complexity but also a touch of innovation.
