Instagram Experimenting With Exclusive Paid Subscriber Content Feature

Instagram Experimenting With Exclusive Paid Subscriber Content Feature

Meta, the parent company of Instagram, is currently in the process of testing a new feature that could revolutionize the way users interact with content on the popular social media platform.

Instagram’s head, Adam Mosseri, recently unveiled plans to introduce a feed that would exclusively showcase content from paid subscribers, or what Meta is calling “Meta Verified” accounts.

This concept resembles a selective feed, allowing users to filter their content to view posts solely from Meta Verified profiles.

Enhancing Control And Discovery For Users And Creators

According to Adam Mosseri, the primary objective behind this feature is to offer users more control over their Instagram experience while also providing a new avenue for businesses and creators to gain visibility.

By introducing the Meta Verified toggle, Instagram aims to give its users the power to curate their feeds based on verified accounts.

This toggle is expected to appear as an option under the “Following” and “Favorites” sections when users tap on the Instagram logo at the top of the app.

In essence, this new feature will allow Instagram users to effortlessly access posts from their favorite influencers, celebrities, and brands without the need to sift through their entire feed.

A Message From Instagram’s Head

In a message shared on his Instagram broadcast channel, Adam Mosseri explained the rationale behind this feature:

“We’re testing a way for people to explore their Instagram feed and reels by toggling to only Meta Verified accounts. We’re exploring this as a new control for people and a way for businesses and creators to get discovered. Let us know if you’d be interested in using this.”

This message highlights Instagram’s commitment to evolving its platform to meet the changing needs and preferences of its user base. The introduction of the Meta Verified feature exemplifies this dedication to enhancing the user experience and providing valuable opportunities for content creators and businesses.

The Evolution Of Meta Verified Accounts

It’s important to note that the concept of meta-verified accounts has been in the works for some time. Earlier this year, reports emerged indicating that Meta was testing a paid service that would enable Facebook and Instagram users to obtain a verified account, thereby gaining access to the Meta Verified program.

This program comes at a cost of $11.99 for web users and $14.99 for app users, offering individuals a new pathway to increasing their visibility within Instagram feeds.

This approach signifies a shift towards a more dynamic and diversified social media landscape where users have the option to pay for additional features and benefits. It benefits users who seek enhanced visibility and represents a potential revenue stream for Meta.

Meta’s Strategic Move In The European Union

In recent developments, Meta is making significant inroads in the European Union (EU) by offering paid subscription services to users of both Facebook and Instagram. This move aligns with the comprehensive digital regulation strategy in the region.

Users who opt for the premium membership plans will enjoy an ad-free experience, a departure from the traditional ad-based revenue model. This shift empowers users to choose whether to engage with the company’s ad-based services, providing them with more

control over their online experience.
